After 10 days at Castle House OPERA#1 has come to an end. Along the way we met interesting people, hosted engaging activities and had a lot of fun. Thanks to everyone who visited / stayed / organised / volunteered. It’s been great!
We have published a scrapbook of the project here.
Keep a look out for OPERA#2!
Inquisitive and sleepy visitor! Hope you had fun Charlie.
Last night Zero Budget Film Festival hosted an evening of short films: all amateur, all unfunded and all very very entertaining.
Dr Jenny Slater ran a workshop about toilets at OPERA. We spoke about personal experiences of public and school toilets, participated in a quiz about access to toilet facilities and looked at toilet design in relation to LGBTQ issues.
Dr Abigail Hathway came to take thermal images of the OPERA space. Researchers in the Faculty of Engineering at UoS have teamed up with Sheffield City Council to take thermal images of civic buildings for the Festival of the Mind. They have an exhibition at Castle House that shows how buildings lose heat using engaging visualisations.
Sarah Christie from Edge of the Universe Printing Press stayed at Castle House yesterday. We made DIY screen printed posters for a workshop they are hosting as part of Off the Shelf festival.
After dinner ukulele cover versions of hip-hop tunes were provided by Andy.
